The YMCA College of Physical Education is a full-fledged, specialized institution founded in 1920 by Mr. Harry Crowe Buck. It is an autonomous institution affliliated to Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University.
The College today is co-educational and fully residential. It caters to graduates, postgraduates and doctorates pursuing a broad spectrum of sports careers. The college has access to world-class sporting facilities and uses the latest teaching techniques.
The YMCA College graduates, postgraduates and doctorates can be found working throughout India and many other countries. They work in a wide variety of sports related fields such as

- Sports & recreation officers in state & central government

The college campus is spread across 64 acres and is situated in the centre of Chennai city at Nandanam. It has excellent sports facilities like tennis courts, play fields, athletic tracks (synthetic, astro-turf & hardcourt), swimming pool, gymnasium, hostels and library.
The YMCA College of Physical Education is 88 years old and since inception it has contributed to the growth and development of scientific physical education not only in India but also in South Asian countries like Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Malaysia and Middle Eastern countries like Iraq and Egypt.
